As a member of the Brevard County community, I have served on a number of Boards and Committees focused on making our community a better place to live.
Presently I serve on the Volunteer Brevard Board of Directors. This is a program administered by Brevard Association of Volunteer Managers to be a clearinghouse to link volunteers who want to serve and organizations seeking volunteers. The newest of 27 volunteer centers in the state of Florida, we are a member of the Florida Association of Volunteer Centers, and the Points of Light Foundation.
Since 1989, I have served on the Board of Directors of Brevard County Legal Aid. Brevard County Legal Aid has been serving Brevard County since 1970. Their mission is to provide free legal civil service to indigent persons who otherwise would not be represented in our legal system. I have served on the Board as both President and Vice President in the past.
I served on the founding committee of the Domestic Violence Task Force established to help focus on the growing problem of Domestic Violence.
I served on the Country Acres Advisory Board from 1988 – 1990. Country Acres is a Group Home for dependent children who have suffered abuse, neglect and/or abandonment.
I served as a mentor in the Take Stock In Children Program administered by Brevard County School system in 2002 and 2003. Mentors assist low-income children in keeping their commitment by staying drug and crime-free, maintaining satisfactory grades and exhibiting good behavior in school in order to get scholarships to go to college or a vocational school.
