Professional Recognition


During my nearly thirty years of practicing law, I continue to make a commitment to assuring equal access to the court system, advancing professionalism, and increasing my knowledge and skills:

I was recognized on the Pro Bono Honor Roll of Brevard County Legal Aid from 1993 to present for my contribution of volunteer service.

I have received awards for my work including Pro Bono Award 1997 for 75 hours of Pro Bono work and Pro Bono Award 1999 for 58 hours of Pro Bono work.

I was awarded the Brevard County Bar Association’s Sixth Annual Professionalism Award “for his tireless pursuit and practice of the highest ideals and tenets of the legal profession and for consistently demonstrating the essential attributes of professionalism: Character, Competence, and Commitment” - April 8, 2004

As a prosecutor, I was honored to be recognized by my peers:

  • Outstanding Trial Attorney Award in recognition of outstanding trial performance during the 2005 year for Brevard County.
  • Employee of the Month, November, 2005
  • Nominated for Employee of the Month in September, 2005
  • Recognized as a PAY Star in 2003 and 2005 for his work with the PAY Program. The PAY Program is a prosecution alternatives for youth designed to provide early intervention and rehabilitation for juveniles. I acted as Judge for Teen Court.
  • Pride in Excellence Award in recognition of Outstanding Achievement and Personal Dedication during the 2004 Year for Brevard County
  • Employee of the Month July, 2004
  • Nominated for Employee of the month in October, 1988
  • Employee of the Month in June, 1988

Florida Bar Association Member since 1977

Brevard County Bar Association Member since 1987

Served on the Board of Directors of the Brevard County Bar Association from 1994 – 2000

Appointed by the Florida Bar to serve as a member of the Florida Bar Standing Committee on Professionalism in 2003 and reappointed in 2006.

Appointed in 2004 to serve on the Florida Bar Association’s Member Outreach Committee, Reappointed in 2006. As a result of ideas shared at a Diversity Symposium, this committee is trying to increase participation and inclusion of all sectors of the Bar, whether based on geographic location, areas of practice, gender, ethnicity, or some other criteria.

Florida Bar Diversity Subcommittee, Essay Contest Subcommittee, 2005-2006

Board Certified in Criminal Law in August, 1988. One of only two in Brevard County lawyers to accomplish this certification in that year. Recertified from 1993 until 1998.

Recognized for work on the Brevard County Bar Association’s Professionalism Committee as Co-Chair for the Professionalism Awards 1998-1999

Chairperson of the Brevard County Bar Association’s Professionalism Luncheon and Uniform Sanctions Committees, 2001 – 2002

Attended Supreme Court Symposium on Professionalism, 1998

E-Mentor , Florida Bar E-Mentoring Program, 2004 – Present – This program links an attorney with a law student to provide support and to foster principles of professionalism.

Faculty member, Ernest F. Hollings National Advocacy Center, Columbia, South Carolina. The National Advocacy Center is a training institute for prosecutors, operated by the National District Attorneys Association and the United States Department of Justice, on the campus of the University of South Carolina. Participated as a member of instructional staff for Cross Examination

Vassar B. Carlton American Inn of Court, 1994 - 1996

Recognized by the Supreme Court of Florida and Governor Lawton Chiles for his dedication to the Florida Guardian Ad Litem Program and commended for his outstanding pro bono service to the Court – October 17, 1996

Recognized by the Supreme Court of Florida and the State of Florida Guardian Ad Litem Program for his dedication to the best interest of abused and neglected children and commended for outstanding service to the Court on April 23, 1993.
